The problem

Freelancers sign NDAs
blind every single day

A lawyer review costs $200–500. Most freelancers just sign and hope for the best. That works — until it doesn't.

Signed a non-compete. Lost a $120K/yr client.

A vague non-compete buried on page 4 cost a senior developer their biggest ongoing contract. Industry-standard is 1 year and one competitor. They signed 5 years, all industries, globally.

"I had no idea that clause meant I couldn't work with any of their competitors for 5 years. I lost $90K that year." — Marcus T., full-stack contractor

Client claimed ownership of code built before the engagement

An IP assignment clause with no pre-existing IP carve-out let a startup claim ownership of open-source libraries and internal frameworks a developer had built over 3 years.

"They tried to claim my entire portfolio of internal tools. My lawyer said the NDA gave them standing to try." — Priya R., UX designer & developer

$50K in liquidated damages for talking to a journalist

A broad confidentiality clause with liquidated damages — not flagged, not negotiated — turned a routine media mention into a legal nightmare. No cap on damages was in the original draft.

"I mentioned the project on a podcast before it launched publicly. They sent a cease-and-desist and a $50K claim." — Jordan K., content strategist

What freelancers say

Trusted by independents
across the stack

I got an NDA from a Fortune 500 client on a Friday afternoon. A lawyer would have taken 3 days minimum and cost $350. NDA Guard flagged a 5-year non-compete with global scope in 45 seconds. I negotiated it down to 12 months, same industry. Client signed same day.

The counter-language feature alone is worth the subscription. I don't just know what's wrong — I get the exact replacement text and a professional email to send back. My clients now respect that I actually read what I sign. It's changed how I position myself.

Uses Pro — 8 NDAs/month

We onboard 6–8 contractors per month at our studio, each signing client NDAs. The Team plan pays for itself after 2 reviews — previously we'd send each NDA to our retained lawyer. Now it's instant, and our contracts team actually understands what they're signing.

Questions

Everything you actually want to know

NDA Guard AI is an educational tool, not a law firm. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. For NDAs involving significant money, equity, or long-term obligations, always consult a licensed attorney. That said, our AI correctly identifies the major risk categories in over 90% of reviewed NDAs — it's an exceptional first pass that helps you decide whether a $200 lawyer review is even warranted, and gives you clear negotiating points if it is.

We validate our AI against a regression test suite of 500+ manually annotated real NDAs. Current precision on critical clause detection (non-compete, IP assignment, unlimited liability) is above 90%. We also include confidence scoring — if the AI is uncertain about a clause, it flags it clearly rather than hiding the uncertainty. No AI is perfect, which is why we always recommend attorney review for high-stakes NDAs. We display this clearly on every review output.

We currently support unilateral NDAs — the most common type a freelancer or contractor receives (where you are the receiving party). Mutual NDA support is in active development and arrives in V2. We handle US, UK, EU, and Australian legal frameworks well. NDAs governed by other jurisdictions may have lower accuracy — we'll flag this clearly.

Your NDAs are processed securely and are never shared with third parties or used to train any AI model. Files are encrypted at rest and in transit. By default, uploaded PDFs are deleted from our servers after 30 days — you can delete them immediately from your dashboard. We do not sell or share your data with anyone, ever. Our full privacy policy is available in the footer.

NDA Guard uses Claude under the hood — but with a heavily engineered prompt system trained on thousands of real NDAs, structured output validation, a 500+ document regression test suite, and a calibrated risk scoring algorithm. Asking a general AI gives you inconsistent, unvalidated output with no confidence scoring, no redlined PDF, no history, and no negotiation scripts. We've done the hard work of making the AI reliably useful for this specific task.

Yes. For Pro and Team subscribers, we offer a 7-day no-questions-asked refund on your first month. For single-use reviews ($19), we offer a refund only if we were unable to process your document successfully. We believe in the product — if it doesn't help you, we don't want your money.

We accept PDF (including encrypted and scanned PDFs), DOCX, and plain text paste. Maximum file size is 10MB, which covers virtually all NDAs. For scanned PDFs, we apply OCR automatically — quality may vary for very low-resolution scans. If your document fails to process, contact support and we'll handle it manually within 24 hours.

Yes — every new account gets one completely free NDA review with no credit card required. The free review includes the full risk report, per-clause breakdown, and counter-language suggestions. The only thing excluded is the redlined PDF download, which requires a paid plan. We want you to see the value before you pay a cent.
